Movie Genre: Sport - By James Allen

The movie genre sport is a hybrid sub-genre and are usually films based around sport and are usually set in sport surrounded areas like baseball/ football stadiums, basketball arenas and boxing venues. The usual storyline for a sport film is that there is usually a big competition if usually team sport and one predominant athlete if its boxing or athletic based film. Sport films can be made fictionally or non-fictionally.

The main topics that are used for sport genre are:
- Biopics
- Drama's
- Comedies
- Documentarys
- Fantasies
- Melodramas

There are also some sport films that have been made on true stories like:
- Cool Runnings
- Bring it On
- Gladiator
- The Cincinatti Kid
- The Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner
- Jerry Maguire

Boxing Sub-Genre:

Boxing is a Genre within the Sport Genre and portrays usually a fighter that is the predominant fighter either making his way up the glory ladder or is sitting on top of it and is maybe going to fall down the rankings.
Two boxing films are in both the Sports Illustrated and Palm Beach Post's Top 10 Sport Films of All Time, Rocky and Raging Bull.
The most popular and the most successful of all boxing movies are the Rocky movies that starred Sylvester Stylone.
